Wauza Ngono Kenya waandamana kupinga manyanyaso

Sex workers aka Wauza ngono wa eneo la Thika, Kenya wakiwa wamelala barabarani wakati wa maandamano yao jana

Hii biashara ya Uchangudoa, Kuuza ngono au sex workers inazidi kushamiri siku hadi siku mpaka kutengenezewa mazingira na kutakiwa kuonekana ni kitu cha kawaida. Ikiangaliwa kwa umakini kutokana na namba ya wahusiska kupanda siku hadi siku Serikali inaweza ikatumia mwanya huo kwa ongezeko la mapato ya kodi kutoka kwenye sekta hii.

Business came to a standstill in thika town when hundreds of sex workers held a demonstration to protest harrassment.
The over 500 commercial sex workers both men and women claimed they were being harrassed by the police as well as council askaris.
They also claimed that their lives were in danger following a spate of killings targetting them.
They claimed that four of their colleagues had been killed under mysterious circumstances
Business at the local District Commissioner's office, that of the Thika Municipal Council were disrupted for some time as the demonstrators tried to air their grievances.
The angry protestors who were also carrying a casket also demonstrated outside the Thika Police Station.
Efforts to get an audience from the local DC did not bear fruits as he did not address them.
The DC's office was however cordoned off with armed APs only staring at them helplessly.
The protestors later visited the scene where one of them, Catherine Njeri was murdered by an unknown people and sang christians songs and prayed.
They later left for burial at Igikiro village in Maragua, Murang’a County.
The 32 year old Catherine was found murdered five days ago.
Barrack Ondiek, their spokesperson claimed that police officers and Council Askaris were behind the attacks against them.
And in an unexpected move, they called for the legalization of prostitution saying they were ready to pay taxes.
They claimed that some of their clients were prominent people including senior officers from the government and even pastors.
They said that the constitution guarantees equal rights and protection to every Kenyan, sex workers included.
They wanted to know why the two watchmen on duty the day of the murder had since then disappeared.
